The UnaMesa Academy engages individual organizations or networks of organizations in customized technology trainings. Organizations can work separately or collaborate with partners who have related information challenges, to develop data-entry, storage, and information sharing tools.

UnaMesa Tools include TiddlyWiki, SharedRecords and Wikispaces.
Sample UnaMesa Tools "In Action"

TiddlyWiki
  • The first sample is a prototype of the UnaMesa Academy Application. This form was created with the TiddlyWiki tool. You can check out the UnaMesa Academy Application online or download a copy of it and use it offline (just click "download" in the left-hand menu). If you download a copy you'll find it where ever you have told your web browswer to automatically download attachments to (often a Temp file or your Desktop, the file is called uma.html). Double-click on the downloaded document and open it, it will open in your web browser. UnaMesa is not yet using the application, so feel free to click around and test it out, including "Saving" your changes and "Sending" the TEST application if you want.
  • The second sample (attached, "sozo") is a Sample Patient Intake Form for a Community Nursing practice. This form was also created using TW. (Download the attachment as you would an email attachment. When you open the downloaded document, it will open in your web browser). You can see how the each Patient "File" builds on the Intake Form. In the menu on the left are other "forms" that are included in a Patient File; they are all "linked" to the Intake Form. You can see the form used in context by viewing one of these videos.
  • TiddlyWiki has been used to create downloadable and editable books. UnaMesa is a technology partner working with Hesperian and their global "Where there is no Doctor" effort. Hesperian was recently awarded a major grant from the Gates Foundation and was recognized at the Clinton Global Initiative.
  • TiddlyWiki can be used as a "web page." See a running TiddlyWiki web page.
  • Getting the hang of TiddlyWiki is easy; and once you do, TiddlyWiki can be used for almost anything. I've even used it to create visual presentations similar to PowerPoint but without the need for expensive PowerPoint software to design or show the presentation. TiddlyWiki Presentations are easily hosted online (you can run the presentation from there, or just leave it up for others to see), easily downloaded (so others can see or use your presentation), are portable (you can keep a copy on your computer), and easily edited (when you make changes to your computer's copy of the presentation, you can easily sync the changes to the presentation online). Please see Sample Visual Presentations.
SharedRecords
  • SharedRecords is a free web service for securely storing, sorting, tracking, and sharing records. Shared Records has been used to gather and store student's Immunization Records.
WikiSpaces
  • The UnaMesa Associates "web pages" are created using the wiki tool. The UnaMesa Academy "web page" is a wiki. Start at the UnaMesa Association web page and see how the wiki is integrated when you click on the links. The links on the web page lead you to the wiki. In a wiki, information can easily be posted and discussed. Multimedia content like videos, documents, web links and more are all easily added to present and enrich the information. Creating and editing wikis is not time-consuming, nor are wikis difficult to learn. Adding content to a wiki is comparable in difficulty with writing an email with an attachment.
  • See how Hesperian put a whole book in a wiki, and hosts it on wikispaces.
